Agency for Healthcare Research and Quality (AHRQ) – “Conducting Measurement Activities.” To support AHRQ’s “Performance Improvement Initiative,” AFYA was awarded a task order to conduct in-depth analyses of each of AHRQ’s six research portfolios. The goal is to identify best practices, analyze return on investment, and determine the effectiveness of AHRQ information dissemination and communication practices. AFYA is collecting data through one-on-one interviews with senior AHRQ officials, document review, and literature searches. Senior researchers are developing logic models to document the mission, activities, goals, and outcomes of each portfolio. Working in a highly collaborative manner, we are helping AHRQ measure the effectiveness of each portfolio and plan for the future.

Agency for Healthcare Research and Quality (AHRQ) Case Studies of How Patient Safety Projects Progress Through AHRQ’s Core Business Areas.AFYA is conducting detailed evaluations of the progress of four AHRQ programs through the Agency’s core business areas: knowledge creation, synthesis, dissemination, and adoption. The programs are: Comprehensive Unit-Based Safety Program (CUSP) to Reduce Central Line Associated Blood Stream Infections (CLABSI), TeamSTEPPS, Partnerships in Implementing Patient Safety (PIPS) to prevent venous thromboembolism (VTE), and Surveys of Patient Safety Culture (SOPS). We are developing case studies that describe both the current and potential impact of implementing patient safety practices and the mechanisms for progressing through AHRQ’s core business areas.

Agency for Healthcare Research and Quality (AHRQ)   “Learnings for Implementing Electronic Exchange of Health Information: A Synthesis of AHRQ’s Health Information Exchange Projects.” AFYA is using a broad range of data collection methods (case studies, environmental scans, document review, key informant interviews, and literature review) to compile and synthesize data on key lessons learned on AHRQ-funded Health Information Exchange (HIE) projects. The goal is to determine the most effective way to disseminate findings to key stakeholders.
