The word “afya” means health in Swahili. AFYA, Inc., (AFYA) is a technical and professional services firm founded in 1991 to positively impact the health and well being of underserved populations. We design and support projects that facilitate access to care, help remove barriers to an optimum quality of life, and help integrate healthy individuals and families into their communities.
AFYA's research and evaluation projects focus on health disparities — their causes, their health and social impact, and how they can be eliminated. We conduct small and large-scale studies, evaluations, needs assessments, and other types of qualitative research. In addition to research and evaluation, our service lines also include technical assistance and training, conference support, publications development, graphics, health communication services, and marketing and public relations services.
Our corporate vision is centered on a world where the well-being of underserved populations is improved through the availability and use of evidence-based research data, effective health communication efforts, training of health professionals, and peer-to-peer collaboration and communication.
